1974 Maundy Money Set

Posted on

In 1974 the Royal Maundy ceremony took place at Salisbury Cathedral, on April 11th, with Queen Elizabeth II being 47 years old at the time.

All 1974 Maundy Money was struck at the Royal Mint, Llantrisant, with no production taking place at the Royal Mint, London. The mintages were listed in the 1973-1974 Royal Mint Annual Report which covered up until 31st March 1974, so they were likely struck some time in March.

1,138 pence, 1,042 twopence, 1,138 threepence and 1,138 fourpence were struck in sterling silver, for a total of 11,188 pence face value.
