2016 Olympic coloured $2 coins

In 2016, the Royal Australian Mint struck five coloured $2 coins to commemorate the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The coins were issued through Woolworths supermarkets in successive weeks (https://www.ramint.gov.au/publications/woolworths-shoppers-win-gold-exclusive-olympic-coin-launch).

The blue painted coin depicted the following sports: synchronised swimming, tennis, wrestling, sailing, soccer, shooting and weight-lifting.

The black painted coin depicted the following sports: athletics, cycling, swimming, archery, judo and triathlon.

The red painted coin depicted the following sports: basketball, equestrian, rugby sevens, gymnastics, canoeing, golf and fencing.

The yellow painted coin depicted the following sports: table tennis/ping pong, badminton, kayaking, volleyball, hockey and water polo.

The green painted coin depicted the following sports: tae kwon do, rowing, boxing, pentathlon, diving and handball.

2,000,000 uncirculated coins of each design were struck.
